Madueke Shuts Down Critics with Hat Trick as Chelsea Dominates Wolves 6-2

Noni Madueke put on a stunning performance with a second-half hat trick to lead Chelsea to a 6-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Sunday. This result gave Chelsea their first Premier League win under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Madueke scored three goals in just 14 minutes, all set up by Cole Palmer. His explosive display in the second half highlighted the attacking potential Maresca is beginning to harness, despite the often chaotic nature of Chelsea’s play.

Earlier in the day, Madueke had stirred controversy with an Instagram post that used an expletive to criticize Wolverhampton. Though he later deleted the post, the home fans booed him throughout the match. However, his on-field response was decisive.

Chelsea had struggled in the first half, giving up the lead twice. Palmer’s long-range lob, which put Chelsea ahead, was a standout moment, showcasing why he was named the league’s best young player last season. Jorgen Strand Larsen’s goal pulled Wolves level again just before halftime.

In the second half, Madueke’s goals were all similar: Palmer found him on the right side of the area, and Madueke finished with angled shots past Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa, including one that deflected in off the far post.

Joao Felix later added to Chelsea’s tally, scoring from a cross by Pedro Neto, who recently joined from Wolves.

After the game, Madueke apologized to Wolverhampton residents, noting his changed view of the city. “Obviously it was a mistake, and I’m sure that Wolverhampton is a great town,” he said. He also announced plans to step back from social media. “I’ll be giving my social media accounts to my manager, I think,” he added.

Earlier on Sunday, Bournemouth had a late winner ruled out by VAR in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle. Dango Ouattara’s injury-time header was disallowed for handball, while Marcus Tavernier had given Bournemouth the lead in the 37th minute, only for Anthony Gordon to equalize for Newcastle in the 76th minute.

Liverpool’s manager Arne Slot was set to make his home debut at Anfield later in the day against Brentford.
